Mepilex Transfer Ag is a thin and conformable, silver sulphate antimicrobial wound
contact layer designed to allow exudate to transfer to a secondary dressing, whilst maintaining a moist wound environment. The antimicrobial action reduces bioburden in the wound by inactivating wound relevant pathogens within 30 minutes with a sustained effect for up to 14 days. Mepilex Transfer Ag may remain in place whilst only the secondary dressing is changed when needed.

How does it work?
The Mepilex Transfer Ag is impregnated with silver sulphate ions in a polyurethane foam which are activated when coming in contact with exudate. The silver sulphate ions bind to the cell wall proteins causing them to rupture. The silver sulphate ions may also bind to bacterial enzymes and cell DNA, inhibiting them to function normally. The ions will divide throughout the wound fluid until it reaches equilibrium, thus sustaining it's antimicrobial effect in the wound dressing and in the wound.

Less Pain & Trauma
Safetac is a proprietary adhesive technology that minimises pain to patients and trauma to wounds. Designed to mold softly to the moist wound without sticking, so it can be removed easily without damaging the wound bed or skin to support faster natural healing. It also seals the wound margins to protect skin from damaging leaks and maceration. Safetac technology layer seals around the wound and the foam structure of Mepilex Transfer Ag allows exudate to move vertically into a secondary absorbent dressing.
